Application companies (Swedish below)

CirkusExpo is an industry event aimed specifically at Swedish, Danish, and Finnish circus companies, held at Riksteatern, Hallunda on February 13–16, 2025.  
February 15th is the day of the pitch presentations, where you, as a circus company/artist, have the opportunity to present your project. 
Participation takes place via the application. 

The application deadline is September 29th 2024.

CirkusExpo – Nordic platform for circus arts is presented by:  
Riksteatern, The Swedish Arts Council, The Swedish Arts Grants Committee, The Danish Arts Foundation, Circus and Dance Info Finland. 
In collaboration with CirkusMania and Cirkuscentrum.

Apply
CirkusExpo 2025 will invite 16 circus companies of those who have applied, to give presentations. Touring and upcoming projects can already be presented.
Please note that the application means being allowed to present a pitch, not parts or whole performances.
Companies must make a live pitch presentation and are offered a place in the online catalog for a pre-recorded presentation.
Only companies based in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland can apply via this application.  

The decision will be announced on October 16th, 2024.  

Pitch presentations  
The time frame for the pitch is six minutes. It is possible to show video and/or PowerPoint, but we offer no other technical equipment or rigging for live performances.
Presentations should be made in English.  

Online Catalog  
The selected companies are offered a place on CirkusExpo’s website for a 3-minute pre-produced video presentation of the project and is also given their own information page.
The video is filmed and produced by the company.
The company must deliver the video in mp4 format (HD resolution 1080p) to CirkusExpo by January 8th, 2025 at the latest.

Guide for the application

• Note that the requested filmed material in the application must be able to be downloaded via a link.
• For already touring productions: Full-length video of the performance. For upcoming productions: Filmed work in progress material.
• The application will only be processed if, by the deadline, you have also sent an email to cirkusexpo@riksteatern.se with one portrait and one landscape high-resolution image (300 dpi) in jpg or tif, representing the project.

Selection criteria  

• Only companies/artists based in Sweden, Denmark, and Finland can apply.  
• Productions that are already touring must be able to be booked no later than autumn 2025. For projects that are not yet completed, they must be scheduled to premiere by 2026 at the latest. 
• The selection includes different target groups, formats, aesthetic expressions and concepts as well as artistic quality. 
• Perspectives regarding the selection: Multicultural perspective, diversity perspective and norm and gender perspective. 

The focus is to present a dynamic and varied range of projects, which can be suitable for a variety of venues and contexts.

Selection committee:  

For Swedish companies:
The selection is made by a reference group consisting of representatives from various organizations working with circus in Sweden and Riksteatern artistic director for circus.  

For Danish Companies:
The selection is made by a reference group consisting of representatives from The Danish Arts Foundation and Riksteatern artistic director for circus.  

For Finnish Companies:
The selection is made by a reference group consisting of representatives from Circus & Dance Info Finland and Riksteatern artistic director for circus.  

Dates
Application opens 2nd of September 2024 and closes 29th of September 2024.
Decision; October 16th, 2024.
Video for the online catalog must be sent in by 8th January 2025.
Sweden-based circus artists, who are members of Cirkuscentrum, can apply for financial support to cover costs related to registration, travel, and accommodation for CirkusExpo. Get in contact with Cirkuscentrum here. 
For Danish companies, travel expenses can be applied for via https://www.kunst.dk/for-ansoegere/soeg-tilskud/scenekunst-internationale-aktiviteter.  

In collaboration with Circus and Dance Info Finland, Finnish circus artists will get travel and accommodation support. Info will be given to the selected companies.

Ansökan för kompanier   

CirkusExpo är ett branschevenemang riktat specifikt till svenska, danska och finska cirkuskompanier. Evenemanget hålls på Riksteatern, Hallunda den 13-16 februari 2025.
Den 15 februari är dagen för pitchpresentationer, där ni/du som cirkuskompani/artist, har möjlighet att presentera ditt projekt.
Deltagande sker via ansökan.

Sista ansökningsdag är den 29 september 2024.

Ansök
CirkusExpo 2025 kommer att välja ut och bjuda in 16 cirkuskompanier för att hålla presentationer. Både redan turnerande och kommande projekt kan presenteras.
Observera att ansökan innebär att få presentera en pitch, inte delar eller hela föreställningar. Kompanier måste göra en live pitch presentation och erbjuds också en plats i onlinekatalogen med en förinspelad presentation.
Endast kompanier baserade i Sverige, Danmark och Finland kan ansöka.
Beslut kommer att meddelas den 16 oktober 2024.  

Pitch presentationer
Tidsramen för pichen är sex minuter. Det är möjligt att visa video och/eller Power point, men vi erbjuder inte någon övrig teknisk utrustning eller rigg för liveframträdande.
Presentationer ska göras på engelska.  

Online katalog
De utvalda kompanierna erbjuds en plats på CirkusExpos hemsida för att visa en tre minuter lång förproducerad video som presenterar projektet och får också en egen informationssida. Videon filmas och produceras av kompaniet.
Kompaniet måste leverera videon i mp4-format (HD-upplösning 1080p) till CirkusExpo senast den 8 januari 2025.

Guide för ansökan

• Observera att du behöver skicka in filmat material via länk. För redan turnerande produktioner: Fullängdsvideo av föreställningen.
• För kommande produktioner: Filmat pågående material.
• Ansökan behandlas endast om du inom deadline även har skickat ett mejl till cirkusexpo@riksteatern.se med en porträttbild och en liggande högupplöst bild (300 dpi) i jpg eller tif som representerar projektet.   

Urvalskriterier

• Endast kompanier/artister baserade i Sverige, Danmark och Finland kan ansöka.
• Produktioner som redan turnerar ska kunna bokas senast hösten 2025. För ännu ej färdigt projekt, behöver det finnas en planerad premiär senast 2026.
• Urvalet omfattar olika målgrupper, format, estetiska uttryck och koncept samt konstnärlig kvalitet.
• Perspektiv gällande urvalet: Mångkulturellt perspektiv, mångfaldsperspektiv samt norm- och genusperspektiv.

Fokus ligger på att presentera ett dynamiskt och varierat utbud av projekt, som kan passa för en mängd olika lokaler och sammanhang.  

Urvalskommité   

För svenska kompanier:
Urvalet görs av en referensgrupp bestående av representanter från olika organisationer som arbetar med cirkus i Sverige samt Riksteatern konstnärliga ledare för Circus.  

För danska kompanier:
Urvalet görs av en referensgrupp bestående av representanter från The Danish Arts Foundation samt Riksteatern konstnärliga ledare för Circus.   

För finska kompanier:
Urvalet görs av en referensgrupp bestående av representanter från Circus & Dance Info Finland samt Riksteatern konstnäliga ledare för Circus.  

Datum
Ansökningen öppnar den 2 september 2024 och stänger den 29 september 2024.
Beslut tas den 16 oktober 2024.
Pitch-video till onlinekatalogen ska skickas in senast den 8 januari 2025.
Sverigebaserade cirkusartister som är medlemmar i Cirkuscentrum kan ansöka om ekonomiskt stöd för att täcka kostnader i samband med registrering samt resa och boende för CirkusExpo. Kontakta Cirkuscentrum här.
