Cullberg is one of Sweden's leading touring dance companies with a strong international standing, founded by Birgit Cullberg in 1967. We present choreographers from all over the world and produce high-quality contemporary dance. Cullberg is part of Riksteatern and is based in Botkyrka, but has its own artistic direction, as well as a technical and administrative team.

What does the job entail?

Welcome to apply for the job as Operations Manager at Cullberg!  Cullberg has a mission to tour throughout Sweden and internationally. We bring people together from different countries to create contemporary dance for audiences around the world – regardless of whether they live in Falun or Berlin. We have permanent staff for technology and production as well as an ensemble of dancers. In addition, we bring in artistic staff per production.

As Operations Manager at Cullberg, you will be involved in all parts of the company. You will be part of a management team together with the Technical Manager and the Ensemble Manager, and you report to the Artistic Director. The management team is responsible for developing the business and developing strategies to meet Cullberg's goals, mission, and artistic vision. Together, you manage the day-to-day operations of the company. You work to ensure that Cullberg as an institution contributes to the development of contemporary dance, and you work to maintain and broaden the company's playing area and contact areas internationally and nationally.

The Operations Manager's main responsibilities are planning, budgeting, touring, production, communication, and branding. You are the manager of the producer, tour manager and PR and marketing manager. 

What is important for the role?

We are looking for someone who has a great interest in contemporary dance and who wants to work both in a managing and developing way according to Cullberg's artistic line. 

You have an academic education in culture, combined with an economics and management education, or you have acquired equivalent skills in some other way.

You are an experienced manager and leader where budgeting and planning have been important parts of your previous leadership. You are used to leading in change. You are well acquainted with production processes in performing arts and are familiar with how the Swedish structure in the cultural world looks like and works, preferably with a good understanding of the specific conditions of the dance field. 

Experience of international business and contacts are important elements. We would like you to have experience in working with networking and selling tours to presenters and that you have been involved in marketing and PR work. If you have experience of climate work, it is an advantage.

You write and speak Swedish and English fluently. If you speak several languages, it is an advantage.

As a person, you are communicative and initiative-taking, who easily creates and maintains work-related relationships and networks. Your leadership is characterized by your unpretentious and confident manner and you identify and develop relationships and groups. You create context and participation, as well as lead and motivate to achieve common goals. You have a good understanding of different lived experiences, value differences and understand how background, cultural expressions and society affect and interact with each other. You are analytical and result-oriented, which is evident in your ability to identify goals, carry out activities and work with focus to achieve the desired results.

Other

We apply non-regulated working hours, 30 vacation days per year and a working climate characterized by freedom with responsibility. The position is a full-time position located in Hallunda, outside Stockholm. Evening and weekend work occur, and travel is sometimes needed within the position. Starting date after agreement, taking any eventual notice period into account. Probationary period of 6 months is applied.
